OVERVIEW
Background
Established in 1914, The American Institute of Graphic Arts is a professional organization for design. The AIGA Student Portfolio Review is an educational initiative dedicated to uniting emerging designers with design leaders to elevate a generation of designers who are ready to lead and develop a better chapter that reflects our creative community.
The Value of a Design System
The brand visual identity for the AIGA SD Portfolio Review represents the concept of shapeshifting dreamers, believers and creative thinkers who are finishing school, changing careers or looking to build their skill set. Art direction of print and digital collateral showcased a multilayered branding across collateral to bring consistency to uniquely different facets of experience.
REFLECTIONS
The AIGA SD student chapter was founded to create a place where design thrives for everyone. As Co-President I worked to create a board that led with passion—facilitating 100-day goals for growth and ways to increase member involvement with AIGA. By designing monthly community meetings that were inclusive to all, my goal was to elevate a generation of designers who are ready to lead, while advocating for design as a core cultural competency in every business, family, organization, team, and government.
Key Learnings
Designing and producing various media pieces that created a cohesive and effective visual communication across different channels.
Valued constructive criticism from a variety of sources.
